Christopher Nolan Interview

Christopher Nolan Interview made on "goanimate." I extracted any information used for this animation from interviews by Christopher Nolan on YouTube. I decided to focus more on the beginning of his film career and the dark aspect of his films rather than his life or any recent films.

Psycho Screenshots

This close up shot of the knife wielding murder's shadow. The shadow is used very well by the director as it is used to keep the audience in mystery. This hides his face and adds another sense of mystery to this story. The use of the shadow creates an unknown feeling making the audience curious as to who the culprit is. The knife also connotes madness of the character. This is due to the fact that a knife murder is a very "messy," and close way of killing someone. This suggests the murderer is a cold killer and was not in the spur of the moment and therefore planned it. These elements point to the instability of the character and his madness.

This shot is a close up of the victim. It enables us to see the sheer terror in her eyes. The place she is murdered is in the shower and this situation is used by the director to produce a character who is in a very vulnerable position. The fact she is also naked is referred to as another vulnerable position as she would have no cover or protection in any way at all. These events make the audience feel scared as the woman is attacked in a vulnerable and what most people would see as a safe place in there home. It therefor shakes the audience as it is designed to do.

Our first media project "The Phone call"

This is our first practical task in media studies AS. It was a success, but i am not entirely happy with the camera work as there are too many jump cuts. As a target I therefore plan to improve my camera work in this video as we could not edit out these mistakes. We did the best we could with the material we had, but didn't want to use many transitions so as a result, the short clip is very unprofessional.
